January Playlist | 2018

I'm sorry but January lasted waaaay too long. I thought I was the only one but then I realized a lot of people shared my opinion of the month that seemed like a whole year. Maybe it was the fact that I spent 90% of my time stressing out about my exams, or the fact that nights turned into days with me pulling all-nighters before exams. I legit lost my sanity for a moment, and that's when instant coffee became my best friend.
From the very start of the month, I knew it was going to be a good one for music. Maybe that's the perk of time moving relatively slow for a person, they have more time to discover new music. I'd like to give a shoutout to Petar for sending me lots of cool albums all through January, at one point it became hard to keep up haha.

So, starting from the very beginning of my music journey, and by the various genres you'll understand why it can truly be called a journey:
MK really hit the spot with me this January. I re-discovered my love for deep house, and I'm obsessed with it once again. I've been loving "Piece Of Me" feat. Becky Hill & "17" , they can always cheer me up when I'm feeling a bit down or when I just want to have a one-person dance party in my room.

The Code has been on my music radar ever since I found their single "Touch" (who I am still obsessed with, I listen to it every day) so from time to time I like to listen to whichever one comes on autoplay. That's how I discovered "Mood (Find You)/Time" and I fell in love with it right away. There is something about the vibe that just makes me want to close my eyes and wander off with my mind. Gotta love songs that have the ability to do that.

This next one I found randomly on Soundcloud one day and the whole vibe of the song captured my immediate attention. You all know how much I adore my "chill" music, and it doesn't get any chiller than Florey - Not Even Her (ft. Shiloh). At one point I felt like I had the singer right by my side whispering sweet nothings into my ear.

If you were a Macedonian teenager in the early 2000s and you watched Junior Eurovision, the name Bobi Andonov might ring a bell. Well, that same guy is totally *heart eyes emoji* and makes super cool music. His new single "Apartment" left me with my mouth open the first time I heard it. It's dark, sultry and powerful - how can I not love it?!

I'm officially in love with Anderson .Paak and his music. His style is a mashup of everything I love listening to with a pinch of sass. When I listened to his album Malibu one song stood out to me from the rest. "Come Down" is an upbeat, groovy, neo-soul track with the best bass ever. His whole album is genius, definitely, check it out!

It might be random, but I wanted to share this with you because it's AWESOME. If you Youtube search "NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert" you'll come by some of the most amazing artists performing in an office cubicle - and giving amazing performances! All through January, I feel down the deep, deep hole of listening to different artists, different genres, and vibes that come with the art of live performing. I've known of this series for a while now, I remember I LIVED for Banks' performance around two years ago. But why am I only telling you about this now? Well, that's because of one specific performance that left me with my jaw dropped - Tank And The Bangas.  They are all so positive beyond words, and their whole performance is so entertaining to watch. "Quick" is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard, but the thing is I like this live performance wayyy more than the official audio version. I'd like to mention Anderson .Paak here again, he also performed at Tiny Desk, and it's sooo good! If you end up wasting all day watching Tiny Desk Concert now, you're welcome!

And last but not least, I have another amazing live performance. This one is from the stunning Jorja Smith - Teenage Fantasy. Her voice is out of this world, it reminds me of Amy Winehouse so much. I love her soulful style, this is the perfect song to listen to on a chill Sunday.

And that wraps up my January and all its glory! All I'll say now is - thank God it's over. As always, click HERE for the whole playlist on Youtube, or on each individual title above. Ciao!
